Globe Kababayan OFW SIM Pack between your legs
I bought our pair of Globe Kababayan OFW SIM pack so I could save more than my previous monthly maintaining balance of Php200.00. With my normal Globe SIM card, I should maintain a balance of Php100.00 just so the roaming would remain active and I could always receive my wife’s text messages. However, my credit load would always expire after 15 days so each half of the month, my credit with be lost in oblivion so my wife would have to load another Php100.00 to my number just so the roaming services would remain active. Failing to do so would mean disconnection within 48 hours and it would take another eternity of follow-ups with Globe customer service before the line would be restored.
When I went to the Philippines last January, my wife and I were obliged to buy the Globe Kababayan OFW SIM Pack because according to Globe, there is no maintaining balance for roaming. Here’s what Globe has to say in their website:
OFW SIM Pack
Hatid ng Globe Kababayan ang pinakabago nitong offering for OFWs and their families – the OFW SIM Pack! Ang OFW SIM Pack ay isang discounted pre-packed multi-SIM bundle for the OFW Family. Kasama pa nito and One Ayala Card Coupon na nagbibigay ng special offers from BPI, One Ayala and Globe.PhP120 lang ito per pack!
Before I left for China, I load an initial credit of Php100.00 and activated the roaming service as instructed. There hasn’t been any problem when I arrived in China, however a time came that I had to use my credit to send text messages to my wife so I have used all Php100.00 credits in four messages because it a single text message would you Php25.00 while in roaming. A few hours later, I received a text notification from Globe that I have to load at least the minimum credit to my number for the roaming service to remain active. Surprised, I informed my wife to call Globe customer service to check why I would be required a maintaining balance when I am using the Globe Kababayan OFW SIM pack. Not surprisingly, the customer service representative my wife had talked with said “wait nalang po ng 24 hours.” But you know what “24 hours” really mean right? It took another eternity for the line to be re-activated so I asked my wife to load the minimum amount to my number.
It happened again. My balance was used, my line deactivated, my wife called the customer service and the agent said “wait nalang po ng 24 hours.”
I checked my old SIM – the regular SIM card – and it’s still active despite the lost of balance for a few days. Wow!
If my wife and most of our relatives in the Philippines are not using Globe SIMs, I would have switched to SMART because according to a fellow OFW in Hangzhou, his SMART SIM remains active even without any load. He has only loaded the initial amount and when it was consumed, he never loaded any amount again but the roaming remains active.
What would Globe want to say now, huh? Between your legs? Whoever is the endorses of this SIM pack, you better hide between your legs as well because your credibility has already been stained.
Globe IMMORTALTXT, IMMORTALCALL+ & SUPERUNLI
In fairness to Globe, despite the numerous hassles I had encountered with most of their promos in the past (see Globe OFW SIMPACK and Globe Super Surf), there still remains one promo that I am continuously enjoying since its introduction. And that is the IMMORTALTXT.
Before they introduced this promo, I was an avid fan and subscriber of their UNLITXT promo. Although this has only led me to spam almost every Globe subscriber friend on my phonebook just so I could really use the promo to its fullest. But IMMORTALTXT does not. Despite the fact that it only allows you to send 50 and 10 text messages to Globe and non-Globe subscribers, respectively, those alloted SMS will not expire until you consume it all (provided that you still have P1.00 remaining balance). I only wonder whether it would expire when the promo ended.
Recently, thanks to a Sarah Geronimo’s ad on TV, I tried texting IMMORTAL15 to 8888 and, to my surprise, I got a confirmation text saying I am entitled (not only with 50 SMS to Globe numbers but also) to a five-minute call to any Globe mobile subscriber. Googling led me to Globe’s website saying this promo is called the Globe IMMORTALCALL+.

There’s also the SUPERUNLI which allows Globe subscribers to unlimited call time (and text) to Globe subscribers for 5 days for only P150.00.
Below are the detailed instruction on how you could avail of those three promos from Globe:
- IMMORTALTXT*: Type IMMORTAL10 on your mobile handset and send to 8888. Cost is P10.00 per subscription.
- IMMORTALCALL+: Type IMMORTAL15 on your mobile handset and send to 8888. Cost is P15.00 per subscription.
- SUPERUNLI**: Type IMMORTAL15 on your mobile handset and send to 2824. Cost is P150.00 per subscription.
* I have tried multiple IMMORTALTXT subscription and got multiple, accumulated SMS credits. For example, I subscribed to this promo five times and got 250 and 50 SMS credits to Globe and non-Globe subscribers.
** I haven’t tried this promo at all since I don’t usually call friends on phone. My wife and her sisters did many times.
Globe IMMORTALTXT and IMMORTALCALL+ promo is extended until January 15, 2010. Per DTI-NCR Permit No. 4462 Series of 2009.
Globe ImmortalTXT lost its immortality
Sorry, the IMMORTALTXT promo has ended effective 02/16/2010. You are not charged for this transaction. You can also try SULITXT, P15 for 100 texts to Globe/TM valid for one day. Just text SULITXT15 to 8888 to register.
I received this text message from Globe when I tried to register for ImmortalTXT. Apparently, Globe’s ImmortalTXT promo has just ended. I still have more than 200 free text message credits from my previous ImmortalTXT subscriptions and I don’t know what will happen to then or will they expire soon. I just hope that their immortality knows no boundary Ü
Globe Super Surf Unlimited Mobile Internet (daw)
Before calling Globe Customer Service Hotline (211), I checked my balance by sending an SMS to 222. Below is the text confirmation I have received:
Your Account Balance as of 12/12/2009 15:25 is 41.50. You also have 15 remaining FREE texts.
I called Globe Customer Service Hotline 211 to inquire about Globe Super Surf Unlimited Mobile Internet surfing for P20.00 per day. The customer service agent informed me to have my mobile handset configured accordingly and informed me of the following instructions (for browsing Facebook website):
- Login to myGlobe CONNECT WAP site on your mobile browser.
- Log in to URL m.facebook.com.
- You will be redirected to a page prompting you to choose whether you want to avail of the Surf All Day Bundle which will allow you to unlimited browsing for Facebook for only P20.00 per day or use the standard TIME or KB rates.
When you choose the Surf All Day Bundle, you will receive a text confirmation and a note will appear on your mobile browser indicating that you’re browsing via one-day unlimited bundle.
I asked the Globe customer service representative whether calling 211 or browsing myGlobe CONNECT WAP site is free. She gave me affirmative answers.

Before proceeding, I called 211 again and asked the customer service representative to re-send myGlobe CONNECT settings on my Sony Ericsson K790c handset. When I received the settings, I had it saved and over-written the previously saved settings.
I checked my balance again to make sure all the previous 211 conversations were free.
Your Account Balance as of 12/12/2009 16:25 is 41.50. You also have 15 remaining FREE texts.
So I tried and was successfully able to connect to myGlobe CONNECT using my handset. And as instructed, I keyed-in m.facebook.com on my mobile browser which redirected me to a page prompting me to choose between the unlimited and standard browsing options.
I chose to browse using the Surf All Day Bundle and I was redirected to a page saying my subscription is being process and that I will be redirected to Facebook Mobile homepage in 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds, I was redirected to the most horrifying page saying “You’re subscription has now expired.”
Keeping myself calm, I close my mobile browser and tried checking my balance. To my dismay, I received the following text message:
Your Account Balance as of 12/12/2009 16:46 is 6.50. You also have 15 remaining FREE texts.
Still trying to keep my cool, I dialed 211 and explained my situation to a Globe Customer Service Hotline representative. The call center agent asked me questions which I tried to answer as accurate as possible (That I am not subscribed to any of Globe’s promo bundles aside for the IMMORTAL TEXT, gave my mobile number and other personal information.)
The Globe agent put me on hold for 2 minutes to check my phone’s transaction. When she returned to me, she began asking me information that, in my honest opinion, doesn’t have anything to do with my previous transaction and my losing 35.00 credit trying to avail of their Surf All Day Bundle.
Then I got furious. Fortunately, as if my being furious triggered the Globe Customer Service Agent to switch from PLAN A to PLAN B (or whatever they had in there), asked me more personal details (like home address and the likes) and informed me that she will make a TICKET to report my case and to have GLOBE check their system. She told me to wait for 24 hours for a response (from whom she did not say).
24 hours later … NOTHING HAPPENS!!!

Update as of December 14, 2009 8:13PM: I received P35.00 worth of load today from AutoLoadMax. I don’t know who sent it so I’ll assume that, for world peace, it’s actually a refund from Globe. If this is true, then thank you!

i’m here in pinas for a vacation, got a SMART sim for local use while i’m here. Then I saw wowowee advertising globe OFW pack with the gyrating girl. I thought of changing to the OFW pack due to “no maintaining balance” claim.
I’ll just bring the SMART sim then. Thanks for the heads up!
eversince a GLOBE is a big cheater the problem is why we have d.o.t.c. what is thier prime duties sitting down and waiting for kickbacks like what they did to globe kababayan to cheat ofw how can you imagine that thier ad- says that no maintaining balance but you have to load in order to activate ganyan ba look sa mga taga dotc you have to look up yourself ok lang sa amin ang deal ninyo sa NBN kasi sa lahat ng involved may kapangyayarihan compare to us(ofw) na nag papawis sa ibayong dagat…
:em52:
Tapos using a Globe Kababayan sim dito sa Singapore, 1.50pesos lang per txt to a Globe sim na nasa Pinas. Sana magkaroon na rin dyan.
mura na nga yan, halos pareho narin ng piso-piso text sa pinas. kumusta naman ang service jan sa singapore? hindi ba hassle na pawala-wala like here in China?
kailangan na talaga makalipat ng Singapore :em57:
hindi naman pawala-wala. ang nag-market kc ng globe kababayan sim dito sa singapore e singtel. not too sure pero sabi kc nila, 40% of globe daw e pag-aari ng singtel.
nagbibigay din ang singtel ng loyalty bonus. pag 6 months mo ng ginagamit ung sim mo, magkakaroon ka ng 10% additional load for every load. max loyalty bonus is 15% when you reached 2 yrs.
altho baka sa ease of communication lang lamang ang singapore. baka pagdating ng living expenses e mas mataas dito. we are now experiencing a very high inflation rate.
how about food? mura lang ba ang basic commodities jan?
balak ko kase if ever lilipat ako jan, kasama na si misis at baby namin. then siguro makakahanap din sya ng work jan. problema nalang tagapag-alaga ng bata. pero siguro ako muna ang pupunta tapos tingin-tingin kung ayos nga tsaka ko nalang sila pasusunurin pag secured na ang paligid. pag hindi, palik pinas muna at magbungkal nalang ng lupa. tutal in the future per butil na ang bilihan ng bigas so malaki na siguro ang magiging kita sa pagsasaka. LOL!
pag kasama mo c misis, mas makakamura kayo kung home-cooked food. you can buy 1kg hipon at 12sgd (360 pesos). masarap pa kc lutong-bahay. meron din naman ditong hawker centers (parang turo-turo sa atin). sabi ng housemate ko, ung 3.50sgd e 2 ulam na.
sa titingin naman sa baby nyo, mas makakamura kayo kung parents nyo na lang ang papuntahin nyo. pag kukuha kc kayo ng maid, magbayad pa kayo ng levy (tax) sa govt which is 250sgd per month yata bukod pa sa ipapasweldo nyo sa katulong. not too sure kung applicable ang dependent’s pass sa parents nyo kahit d kayo permanent resident. pag dependent’s pass kc, your parents are allowed to stay long-term.
meron din naman ditong child care. ung housemate ko e 550sgd per month ang babayaran. mon to fri na un from 7am to 7pm.
thanks for all the information kate, yaan mo pag nanjan na kami bibilhan kita ng OFW simpack :em50:
Ok na rin yung chicken rice worth sgd3 and up. If you want to know more about the work permit or E-pass holder, you can check it at http://www.mom.gov.sg. Mas maganda kung may friends or relatives kang matitirhan don muna while you are looking for a job para di mas mataas ang rent mo then try to apply online yung EPEC (eligibility pass employment certificate) kasi pwede ka up to 1 year para magstay don kung pasado and if it’s rejected then you can stay up to 2 months lang then exit and come back after 5 days. Kate is right. If you got the job in S’pore, you can apply your parents, spouse, children, parent’s-in-law for a dependant’s pass then later on apply ka na as Permanent Resident para maiapply mo na rin sila or pwedeng sabay sabay na sila once na PR ka na. You can get a maid if your child is 12 yrs below and your parents are above 65. Maid’s starting salary is 350 if filipino then the levy is the same as the maid’s salary..kaya mas maganda nga kung wife or parents mo muna. Pwede rin namang Long Term Social Visit Pass for your parents…renewable every 5 yrs.
Hi Kate!
I understand that you are in S’pore, r u working there? May bakante ba sa company nyo or do u know any company na pwede ring pasukan para sa social visit pass muna. I went there last Feb16 then just arrived last week lang dito sa pinas, mahirap maghanap kasi nga di ako PR or DP man lang but I have an offer from the last interview kaso I need to exit na & mababa ang offer as in work permit lang kasi pero pinag-iisipan pa rin namin ng husband ko kung tatanggapin ko na or try to find again for 2 months ulit. Could you please help me kung may kakilala ka or alam na pwedeng applyan. Just in case, could you give me your mobile #. I’ll text you when I go there again, mine is +639192859922. Thanks!
~ auie
our ofw simpack is working fine now (so far), we just called the globe customer service to check and make sure the 0 balance has been activated. Also, even if this is activated (even though you could still receive text messages) the roaming charges for sending messages still applies. In my case, I’m in China and it cost me P25 per message sent to Philippines.
For the Singapore, maybe you should read this other entry I wrote for long-term visa in Singapore – http://www.kotsengkuba.com/2008/03/employment-pass-eligibility-certificate-for-singapore/
thanks! Ok ang information dito sa website mo. I must admit maganda ang pagkakagawa mo. Hope that I can do the webpage also on my own. Btw, how do u do this? What program or software should I use to make a homepage/webpage? What is ASP? Is it easy?
Hi kotseng Kuba, just want to ask if it’s okay to advertise in your website? Please advise. Thanks!
Bumili ako ng Globe Family Pack with 2 sim cards.
Ginagamit ko naman pan text the other day tapos bigla nalang nawalan ng signal.
anyway, makakatawag at matatawagan abroad ang activated na ofw globe sim or any other globe sim as long as nasa 100 pesos mahigit ang remaining balance ng sim mo.
Nice to be reading post of our OFWs, the real heroes of Pinas. Sana po check ninyo ang aming website for Call Kabayan. Link Philippines International offer VOIP calls to and from anywhere around the globe for only 12 USD, as in wan tu sawa po na tawagan. and if wala ka wifi pede po idirect ang calls sa cell phone. This new service wala pa po inputs sa website namin but soon ilalagay na namin.

i bought un ofw sim pack last sept before i left for dubai. na activate ko agad un roaming by loading P100. then it has been working ok since then. paminsan-minsan, my family in the the philippines would load the sim ng P25 or P50. but today, wala na daw syang access sa network. nag try ako mag browse ng any solution esp sa globe website kse i dont know if i have to load the sim pa ng P100 kse i know nagagamit ko pa sya noon na pang receive ng text kahit zero balance na sya. and since no network access, matatanggap kaya non un load na manggagaling sa pinas? help please …
di ko lang alam feyt kung marereceive pa since no access na sya sa network. pero pwede mo ipatawag sa customer service ng globe para mapa-check. yung samin dati, kahit na-activate na kailangan parin daw itawag to complete the zero balance registration. so far ok parin ngayon, kahit paminsan minsan lang naloloadan.
Napadaan lang dito and i’m just wondering if you registered your ofw sim? because my husbands ofw sim works just fine… actually more than 1 week na syang load pero he can still receive my messages.
I did some recent readings on the prepaid roaming SIMs from Phils, check my analysis at
http://www.bncxe.org/showthread.php?p=394664#post394664
after 3 days at after my last post, nagkaron ng signal un globe ko. up to now i can still receive text from pinas ng walang problem. i noticed lang that when someone from pinas will try to call me, nde daw pede because i have insufficient fund daw, which i dont mind kse people from pinas can call me using a different network.
then i got a text from the local network here that i can use my roaming until march of next year, which is basically 6 months after i activated un roaming. what i dont know is what to do next if i want to continue the roaming service nung ofw sim ko.
pwede po ba na hindi family sim ang iregister mo for the ofw? pwede bang ung normal sim naten? hassle kasi magpalit pa ng sim. thanks! saken naman sa japan hope everything works this time.
i think kelangan muna iregister ng wife mo un # mo or something(ask cutomerservice) para ma avail mo un zero-balance at your wife shud use the partner sim talaga…
Seven months ago, I bought my OFW SIM pack in the Philippines before flying to Saudi Arabia.
i buy globe kababayan sim pack last jan 06-2009. pinadala kong ofw sim s sis doon s singapore via phil. post, dumating doon noong jan. 28,2009 ang problema wl syang msg ntatanggap mularito s pinas. advice nang customer sercive nang globe off yong phone at tanggaling yong battery at sim after 5mins. balik ulit. pero ganon prin. aftr 3days tawag ulit yong sis. at sinabi skin n maraming txt msg ang dumating. ang problema pumapasok ayong autolod max n para s kanya invalid number yong conformation msg. pwede nyo po akong tulungan anong dpat kong gawin. myron bang format s pglod nang globe kababayan ofw sim pack?
karen, wala naman kaming unusual way sa pagpapaload. yung normal loading lang, kahit nga pasaload gumagana e. siguro dapat itawag nyo sa customer service tapos i-register nyo na din for ofw zero balance. ganun kase sabi samin noon, kahit ofw sim pa sya at naactivate na ang roaming before umalis ng pinas, kailangan parin iparegister sa kanila. kupal kase yang globe, kupal din kase ang endorser kaya ganun. smart ofw sim kami ngayon, wala naman problema. mula nung binili kahit isang beses di pa naloloadan so far nakakareceive parin ng text.
hi..ill be leaving for saudi nxt month.im so confused as to what sim ang gagamitin ko whether to use the ordinary sim from globe or yung ofw sim na 0 maintaining bal daw?? pls help me
pls help me
kakabalik ko lang from Manila, and problem is pagbalik ko dito sa Dubai, di na gumagana yung globe ofw sim ko, di sya makareceive ng messages from Pinas although may signal naman sya (pero nakalagay is limited service). Started using ofw sim last august 2008 and so far wala namang naging problem kahit di ko sya naloadan eversince august 08, nakakatanggap sya ng messages from Pinas until recently nga nung pagbalik ko sa Dubai.
tsk..tsk..former globe employee pa naman ako. when my mom left for the states, i asked her to buy globe ofw sim its because of the ” zero maintaining balance” daw??? Pagdating nya sa bahay ng pinsan ko sa LA, agad kami nag chat at we tried to test in calling her or at least to ring her globe ofw sim, leche, cannot be completed as dialed.
Try to use YehBA* mobile IM. They offer Free SMS to the Philippines with a 1 peso reply feature. http://m.yehba.com

What a waste of money! thinking this will be the fastest and cheapest way to keep in touch with my friends and love ones! False advertisement!!! don’t know how they keep their business up… Since the time I purchased this sim pack wala pa rin akong natatangap na text message from my family and friends sa Pinas!
u guys could actually use uhm smart”s uzzap mobile chat just buy smart na roaming sim…no fees at all gamit nga namin eto dito sa qatar…hehehe…tc!
